This palette is specifically designed to use with water-soluble pencils and crayons. One side is rough so you can deposit color quickly on it just by rubbing your pencil or crayon across the surface. You then have a color deposit that you can wet with a brush and paint with! The other side of the palette is smooth and may be used with any water-soluble media such as watercolor, gouache and acrylics.
